CAASPP ELA/Math Smarter Balanced assessments are utilized by all California public schools to measure student abilities in reading and mathematics. These required assessments are one of the main ways schools in our state are held accountable for ensuring success for all students, regardless of background, language ability, or experience level. Most states in the US utilize similar forms of standardized assessments to measure district, school, and teacher efficacy.
These comprehensive assessments are typically administered towards the end of the school year to ensure teachers have had ample time to teach their grade level and subject area standards. The results from these tests are made available to the public so everyone can stay informed about the performance of their local educational institutions.
